箱根旅行 その1 / Hakone with Pat & Sue - Part 1
2010年 11月 11日
Pat and Sue were in Japan, and we first went to Hakone together! Of course, with Islay too!
Picked up Pat and Sue at the hotel, and drove on the highway. Stopped by at a service area with a dog-run!
There's a dog cafe at the service area too, so off we went to take our breakfast!
With doggy menu too!
*****
Reached Hakone! First stop, to see Sengokubara's pampas grass.
It was so misty and foggy, we were worried from the very first day, whether we'll get to see Mt Fuji at all!
Stopped by for some ice-cream! Yomogi (Wormwood plant?) flavour! and milk!
Next to some garden! With observertary too, overlooking the Lake Ashi... but! Only if the weather's good! It was so foggy we could not see Mt Fuji, or even Lake Ashi!!! But the photos turned out nice and mysterious, with atmosphere!
Cedar trees!
Hakone Checkpoint!
Drank this yuzu tea, which was very good! So we bought them too! The owner of the shop owned a Collie that passed away just a month ago. There were many photos of the dog in the shop too. Can see she was very much loved.
More fog!
Lunch time! Tho foggy, there was no rain, so we went to this place where you can eat outside with dogs!
This place is famous for their steamed dishes. I had steamed chicken/pork/vegy set. Pat and Sue had the pork/vegy set and Tonkatsu. This was the only day we each ordered a dish for lunch! Found out that dinner and breakfast at the hotel's a lot too, and we were eating far too much, so since then we learnt to share food. BUT! Still gained weight during the trip!
Since the fog was getting slightly better after lunch, went to see the ships. Looks more like a ghost ship in the fog tho!?!
Next, Fujiya Hotel! People like Charlie Chaplin etc stayed here too. Kind of like Hakone's Raffles Hotel? With history!
Islay stayed in the car while we looked around.
Very tempting smell from, Fujiya Hotel's bakery, Picot!
Bought this Royal (?) swiss roll! Which was presented to the Emperor too! Also bought curry bun and macademia chocolate at Fujiya Hotel to eat!
つづくーーーー!!!
Enough sight- seeing for the day, so off to the hotel!!
To be continued....!!!
